5 Weeks - 20 Hours

Singer-Songwriter Production Program

You're Already a Songwriter. It's Time to Sound Like One.

A selective, private 10-session intensive for singers and songwriters in Edmonton with commercial goals. Limited spots available by application only.

You Have the Talent. This Is Where You Develop It.

Most singers and songwriters spend years figuring out the technical side of music production on their own. Trial and error, YouTube tutorials, bedroom recordings that never quite sound the way they should. The knowledge is out there but it is scattered, unstructured, and rarely taught from a commercial perspective.

This program changes that. In 10 focused private sessions you will learn exactly what it takes to write, record, produce, and release music at a professional level, from someone who has been doing it at the highest levels of the industry for over 25 years.

No scattered tutorials. No guesswork. Just a direct path from where you are now to where you want to be.

This Is Not a Class. This Is Your Song.

Most programs teach you about music production. This one makes you a record.

Over 10 private 2-hour sessions, you and a working producer develop three original song demos, choose the strongest one, and take it all the way from rough idea to a finished, professionally produced track ready to release to the world.

You will learn recording, production, editing, mixing, and mastering. Not from textbooks. Not from watching someone else do it. From actually doing it yourself, on your own song, in a real studio, with someone who does this for a living.

Five weeks. Twenty hours. One finished song.

How It Works

Most programs make you commit to one song before you really know if it is your best one. We do it differently.

In the first four sessions we develop three separate demos. You get to hear your ideas properly before committing to a full production. By session four you know exactly which song deserves the full treatment. And you make that choice yourself.

Then we go all in on that song together.

You will walk away knowing how to record, edit, produce, mix, and master a song from start to finish. Not in theory. For real. On your own music. These are the exact skills professional producers use every day, taught to you in plain language with your song as the starting point.

Two sessions per week. Five weeks. And by the end you have something real to show for it. A finished, professionally produced track and the skills to do it again on your own.

What We Cover

Here is the session breakdown section:

Sessions 1 and 2: Songwriting and Concept Development We start with your ideas. Your influences, your vision, your voice. We explore three song concepts and sketch rough demos of each so you can hear what you are actually working with before committing to anything.

Sessions 3 and 4: Demo Development All three demos are fleshed out properly. Melodies, arrangements, production direction. By the end of session four you choose the song you want to take all the way. The decision is always yours.

Session 5: Full Tracking Day Full recording session on your chosen song. Vocals, instruments, everything captured with professional gear and a professional ear guiding every take.

Session 6: Editing and Comping We go through every take together and choose the best performances. Timing is tightened, tuning is addressed, and the raw material is shaped into something tight and intentional.

Sessions 7 and 8: Mixing Two full sessions dedicated entirely to mixing your song. EQ, compression, balance, space. You will learn the core tools and hear your song come to life in real time.

Session 9: Mastering and Release Prep Final polish, export, and everything you need to put your song into the world. Distribution setup, streaming platform preparation, and release strategy covered start to finish.

Session 10: Review, Strategy and What Comes Next We listen back to your finished song together. Then we talk about your release rollout, your next creative steps, and how to keep the momentum going long after the program ends.

We Stand Behind Every Student We Accept

We do not accept everyone into this program. When we say yes to you it means we genuinely believe in your potential and your goals. And we stand behind that belief through every one of your 10 sessions.

If you show up, do the work, and are not proud of what we made together, we will make it right. That is our promise to every student we accept.

Your Producer

I built this program because I kept meeting talented singers and songwriters in Edmonton who had everything it takes except one thing. A real room, real gear, and someone who actually works in the industry sitting beside them.

I have spent over 25 years working as a music producer and audio engineer. My work has aired on BET, FOX, ESPN, CBS, and CTV. I have worked alongside Billboard charting artists, producers, and songwriters, judged the Juno Awards multiple times, and spent over a decade building and leading post-secondary audio programs in Edmonton. I am not retired. I am not teaching from memory. I am actively working in the industry and everything I bring into our sessions comes directly from what is working right now.

But this program is bigger than just me.

Throughout your time here you will have the opportunity to learn from and connect with other working industry veterans I bring into the studio. Producers, composers, engineers, and other creative professionals who are actively working at a high level. These are not guest lecturers reading from slides. They are people I work with and respect, coming in to share what they know with a small group of serious students.

In Edmonton, access like that does not exist anywhere else.

How to Get Started

Step 1 — Submit your application and pay the non-refundable $50 application fee. Every applicant who applies is invited for an in-person interview. No pre-screening.

Step 2 — Come in for your in-person interview at The Teaching Room. See the studio, meet your producer, and talk about your music and your goals. We will get to know each other and decide together if this is the right fit.

Step 3 — Acceptance decisions are made following the interview. If accepted your $50 application fee rolls directly into your first program payment. If not accepted you will receive honest feedback and a clear path forward.

Not accepted right now? You will receive honest, constructive feedback and a clear path for what to work on before applying again. We want you to succeed whether that is in this program or not.
