NOT AN INTRODUCTORY MIXING COURSE

The Mixing Mentorship is designed for participants who already understand the fundamentals and want to take their mixing further.

Before joining, members must complete the required Mixing with Phil Tan workshop series or demonstrate equivalent experience.

The goal is not to keep repeating EQ and compression basics.

The goal is to develop your ears, decision-making, workflow and ability to finish better mixes consistently.

WHAT YOU GET EVERY MONTH

A NEW MULTITRACK TO MIX

Each month, you'll receive the complete multitrack files from a professionally produced song.

Download the session, build your own mix and apply what you've learned without simply copying someone else's approach.

The purpose is to develop your ability to make independent mixing decisions.

MIX FEEDBACK

Submit your completed mix and receive feedback on areas such as:

• Balance

• Tonality

• Dynamics

• Vocals

• Low end

• Depth

• Effects

• Automation

• Translation

• Overall musical impact

When participation allows, we may also run Mix Tournaments, placing mixes into randomized A/B brackets and listening through them together.

It's a useful way to hear how completely different approaches can work on the exact same recording.

THEN SEE HOW PHIL MIXED IT

After you've worked through the material yourself, you'll get to see Phil Tan's approach to the same session when artist-approved material is available.

Instead of simply showing plugin settings, the focus is on the decisions behind the mix:

What did he hear?
What did he change?
What did he leave alone?
And why?

Selected walkthroughs may also be made available for members to revisit online where permissions allow.

PREMIUM MONTHLY SESSION WITH PHIL TAN

Each month will include a dedicated advanced session with Phil.

Topics can change from month to month and may include:

• Walkthroughs of past mixing sessions

• Advanced mixing techniques

• Vocal mixing

• Low-end management

• Depth and dimension

• Automation

• Parallel processing

• Mix bus approaches

• Critical listening

• Breaking down current records

• How specific sounds or effects were created

• Professional workflow and decision-making

Approximately 2 hours.

This is designed to go beyond the material covered in the foundational workshops.

TWO MONTHLY SESSIONS WITH UMESH

Members will also receive two focused sessions each month with Umesh Sahajpal.

These sessions may include:

• Mix critiques

• Technical demonstrations

• Critical listening

• Problem solving

• Mix comparisons

• Workflow development

• Current-song analysis

• Open Q&A

2 hours per session.

The goal is to keep you actively mixing between Phil's sessions rather than attending a lecture once a month and waiting for the next one.

BRING YOUR OWN MIX

In addition to the monthly assigned song, every member can submit one personal song each month for individual feedback.

This can be:

• Your own production

• An artist you're mixing

• A song you're struggling to finish

• A mix you want another set of ears on

You'll receive written feedback identifying the most important areas to focus on.

CONTINUED MIXING EDUCATION

Membership also includes access to additional mixing education and reference material selected for the program.

This may include:

• Mixing course access

• Reference PDFs

• Cheat sheets

• Session files

• Lecture material

• Practice exercises

• Selected recorded content

The idea is to create an ongoing learning environment rather than a collection of disconnected workshops.
